It is an OK picture, but they don't look like they all know each other very well. I would have like to see everyone a lot closer. I think it would have shown a better sense of family.
Barbra - I totally agree. I noticed that while framing the photo in the camera. But, you know these women....it was hard enough to just get them to the table. I was not about to risk life and limb to get them to rearrange at the table. However, now knowing that you also picked up on this, in the future I will go the extra mile to make sure I correct what I see and never assume it will go unnoticed again. Thanks.
Oh sure . . . blame the women! You just needed to bribe them with a chocolate reward for their cooperation. I agree that the placement is disconnected and some of them look like very unwilling participants. They're also squinting and Murkel needs to lose the shades, as well as Diane & Judy losing their jackets for the shot. I like the birdbath in the background - except for the cup, etc. inside it. How's that for criticism?? You're the photographer - make 'em do what you want so your work looks good!!
Wow, this is a tough crowd. Alex is right. The Mom's were scattered all over the place. It was a huge undertaking to get us to the table. Of course, we were very sweet about it. Let me give a new perspective on the photo...the space between the Mom's allows us to see each one without heads peeking between shoulders...a marked improvement in my opinion. Each person was an individual on a day where individual Mom's were being lauded. Also, there was remarkable cohesiveness of position and a general relaxed camaraderie on the faces of each Mom. (all had their arms either on their laps or by their side, except for me, of course. Always looking for attention!) I don't know who looks like they don't want to be there...I know for a fact we were all very happy to be there, in fact we were treated like queens from our beloved men all day. Who wouldn't want to be there! (I think Auntiefluffy is jealous!) I agree about ditching the jackets, although it was darn cold with a bone-chilling wind. I don't think that suggestion would have met with approval from any of us. One last thing about the distance between the people on the table. Marcia was standing to the side of the table. If Judy and I had scooted closer the whole symmetry of the shot would have been off. I think Alex's instincts on this one was dead on. He did exactly what he needed to do to get a great shot!! Way to go, Alex!
Happy moms on a nice sunday. Would have been neat to see it in black and white.
